• Amelia Earhart - "Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace with yourself." These are the words of Amelia Earhart, one of the world's most celebrated aviators, a woman who broke records and charted new waters.

• American Aircraft of World War II - This is a reference site with photos, data, and info on all American aircraft designed or used in World War II. Even the hardcore aviation enthusiast will learn something here. Come in an have a look!

• International Women's Air & Space Museum - The International Women's Air and Space Museum, located in Centerville, Ohio, celebrated its ten year anniversary in March. The Museum was originally the plan of a group of Ninety-Nines to preserve the achievements of women in aviation through personal artifacts and archives.

• Lindbergh - The American Experience - Includes a timeline, stories from his life and maps of his famous first flight.

• San Diego Air & Space Museum - Aviation history is truly a remarkable story, and it all unfolds at the San Diego Aerospace Museum. Your journey through the history of flight begins as you stand beneath a model of the Montgolfier brothers' hot air balloon of 1783, the first manned vehicle in recorded history to break the bonds of gravity and lift man above the Earth.

RAILROADS

• California State Railroad Museum - This museum is the home of twenty-three restored locomotives and cars and this site is an online guidebook to their history. It includes photographs of the exhibits, with detailed information on each one; a brief history of the railroad in America; short biographical information on Leland Stanford, Charles Crocker, Mark Hopkins, Collis Huntington, and Theodore Judah; and the driving of the gold spike at Promontory Summit in Utah.

• Clip Art Collection - A collection of train clip art featuring railroad signs, rolling stock (cars), railroaders, and railroad structures. Also includes pictures of steam, diesel, traction, and electric engines and locomotives.

• New York City Subway Resources - Welcome to the New York City Subway Resources, an unofficial site about the history of New York City's subway system and other transportation systems.

• Steam Locomotive Dot Com - A mega site for American steam locomotives, including the famous B & O Railroad Museum.

• Union Pacific Railroad History - Profiling the history of Union Pacific and its effort to construct the first US transcontinental railroad, this site has an extensive collection of historic train photos, images, and maps. Included is a short history of the caboose plus a chronological "history of abandoned, railbanked, sold, and leased lines from 1868-Present." A glossary of train terminology is also provided.

• California Shipwrecks - The purpose of this site is to provide a source of information about shipwrecks, off the coast of California, throughout various historical periods. Also, you will find lots of maritime history.
