Quantuck Bay looking north. When the ocean broke through here it filled up Quantuck Bay, which rushed northward, flooding the Montauk Highway Causeway Bridge, and continuing on north up into the Quogue wildlife Refuge.

Much hard work had gone into the Wildlife Refuge in 1934, and all this work was ruined.
