The William Floyd Estate, in Mastic Beach, home of the famous signer of the Declaration of Independence. The house and the 613 acres surrounding it are adminstered by the Fire Island National Seashore and is open to the public.


The Manor of St. George, Shirley L.I. in a 1957 air view. A drought this year turned lawns brown, then rains partially restored the grass, but some of it remained brown showing shadowy outlines of a trench. This photo revealed the exact location (see arrow) of the British Fort built during the British occupation in 1780. This fort was later destroyed by American raiders. These buildings and grounds are open to the public. RETURN
